New Monaco Variegated Colors!

It's been awhile since I last made a post. I've been so busy with work and have been able to crochet small projects which I have already given away as gifts. I haven't done any beading as well. Anyway, I went to my Monaco supplier and saw these new variegated colors. For some who start early on their Christmas gifts, these are the exact colors for Christmas. The price per 50-gram ball is still 95 cents each.

I made these for a couple of managers who are my new friends at work. I was able to find more of the pendants but I still love the very first one I made and sold a few months ago. The one on the left is beaded with matching size 10 seed beads. The other one has metallic gold thread crocheted with 2 colors of size 10 threads.

I will be starting on my new job on Monday. Hubby's boss gave me an offer I couldn't resist. I wasn't exactly looking for a job but this is so unexpected and a huge blessing. I will be working as a manager for his dealer sales in mattresses. I will undergo training with my new boss as the trainor. I'm so excited to be working again after 15 long years. I have been my own boss for as long as I can remember and it will be nice working for someone again and not having to worry about paying for rent, utilities and employees' salaries. LOL!!!!!!!

I will still be selling threads and other stuff as usual since I can still get online after office and of course during weekends though I won't have much time for crocheting and beading. I can still mail off packages on my way to work. I can't wait for Monday to come!

It was 2 weeks that I have been without internet connection. I miss everyone here specially my good friends. So sorry to have worried you, ladies. I am so happy to be back!!!!! I got several packages while I was away. I was able to do lots of crocheting and beading as well.
The first package is from Stacey. Thank you Stacey for the CD and the beautiful card. I got your package several days before my birthday. Thanks for remembering, my friend!

I got 2 packages from the Mania swap. First is from the doily swap. My partner is Trish. She sent me a beautiful doily in variegated colors which I love. I have kept it for now and will display it when we finally have our own new home.

The second one is from my best buddy Fiona for the accessory swap. You've outdone yourself, Fiona!!!!!! I love love love everything you made for me!!!!!!! She sent lots and lots! My friends from Joshua's school loved them too! Thank you so much, Fiona! I'll mail out your package soon.

The next are from good friends Monica and Jeng. Thank you so much ladies for remembering my birthday. Monica sent a couple of beautiful and elegant jewelry boxes. The kind that you can only find in expensive shops here in Manila. I love them, Monica! I will be putting jewelries which Mom passed on to me in those boxes. I'll remember you each time I see them. Scrappie Fun Projects

I joined the Gathering Threads group. It's such a great, warm and friendly group and so far I love it there. I am making the scrappie fun projects which are featured everyday. I am also doing their Advanced Doily Along for the month of August. Below are a couple of pictures of the scrappie projects. I will be posting the ADAL after it's finished.

I rushed to finished these 3 bracelets since I have to deliver them this Sunday. The first one is of course the Amethyst cuff in a size 7". The second one I am calling Spring Garden bracelet. I used size 8 seed beads in 3 green finishes and the flowers are all glass beads with yellow size 11 seed bead center. Last but not the least is my version of the caterpillar bracelet. This one is made using size 6, 8 and 11 seed beads in 5 shades of red. After making the loop base, I added clear and red glass bead shapes for accent. This one took me the longest time to finish.

These were all custom made orders. I will be posting these at my jewelry site here.

amethyst cuff for sale - SOLD!!!!!

I made this cuff for my sister's boss who ordered this from me. This is made with Japanese twist bugle beads in silver, size 11 seed beads in 2 colors and amethyst gemchips. She wanted it in 7" in length to fit her wrist size but this one turned out too big. This is 8" in length. If anyone is interested I am selling this one.

I whipped these up for my niece Jeri. The crocheted piece is the same length and width as the plastic headband base. I used reverse sc's for the edges to give it a nice look. Both are made with Monaco threads.

I was busy making these the last 2 days despite being down with flu. The pansy potholder is from the book Baker's Dozen from a private swap with Stacey and the bookmark is called 'Friendship Rings Bookmark' from hooked on crochet June issue. Thanks, Sonia! Both projects are done with Monaco threads. The pansies are more purple than the picture shows.

I fell in love with this unique glass pendant when I saw it. I wanted to make something special with it and here is the result. :-) The crocheted part measures 18" with a bead closure. The pendant is about 2 1/4" long and 1 1/4" at its widest point. This is for sale if anybody is interested.

I'm on an earrings binge. I made these using size 30 thread. The hoops are made using Altin Basak metallic threads. The crocheted beads are made with Coats Big ball thread. Thanks to Angie for the Turkish thread and to Kathy for the other threads. Now back to the choker.......I'm warming up to working with tiny thread size. lol!

I saw Mary's post of her first designed creation at simply crochet. I loved it so much that I asked her if I can test it for her if she writes down the pattern. The pattern was easy to follow and worked up quickly. I used Familia Gold acrylic thread in gold for this. The only changes I made was to use size 8 seed beads and size 10 thread for the edging. For 15 motifs, the length was about 48".

Our phone line was down last Monday morning and only had it back tonight. It's so hard not to have any phone and not to have internet too since I am on dial-up. The only bright side to not being online is having more time to crochet. LOL!!!!! I'm almost finished with the doily for my swap partner over at the mania but found out too late that I made a major error so......I'm doing the main part all over again but changed the colors a bit and so far so good.

A Prayer Shawl for Grace

Hubby asked me to make this for his boss' wife who needs to go to US for further treatment. I was praying and sending good vibes to her while making this one. We are all praying for her recovery as we all care for her. She is a very kind and wonderful lady.
The pattern is called "Dorlaine" from the book All Shawls by Bernat. I used 2 strands of Monaco Raylon thread to make this. It is so soft and has a nice drape. I didn't add fringes but did an hdc on every stitch across and a dc on each stitch on the 2 other edges.

I fell in love with this the first time I saw Kathy post a picture of her newest creation at simplycrochet. I asked Kathy to test this for her and she emailed me saying that she was just going to ask me if I wanted to test this for her.....lol! She knew I'd love to try this one. I've always wanted to try the bullion stitch and this is just the perfect pattern for me to try. She suggested using an inline hook and even offered to send me one but I told her I'll try using my old reliable IMIA size 7 steel hook first. I sweated a bit because the loops kept slipping off and were so uneven. I think it looks ok for my first try......lol! Thank you Kathy for the privelege of testing for you again. You know I love and I'm honored to test your creations. You're one of the kindest and most generous person I know and I'm glad we are friends. :-))))))))

I made this 2 years ago then forgot all about it. This is an original design. I didn't have green seed beads immediately available that time so I used red instead. I used size 12 seed beads in different shades and finishes. Hubby immediately claimed this when he saw it was in his favorite color and used it to put tea lights......lol!

crochet bangles

I saw some crocheted bangles online awhile back. I'm not too fond of bangles but I wanted to try making some. I can't remember the site where I found them. Anyway, here are my versions. The striped one is crocheted in rounds using size 8 cotton thread and for the beaded one, I used size 10 acrylic thread with hematite beads and it is crocheted crosswise in a long strip before joining the ends. These were then attached to wooden bangles then I sewed the underside so they will stay in place. These were fun to make!

I got these from our post office today when I went to mail a few packages. The first one is from a dear friend Monica. She emailed me once then we became fast friends ever since. I am so happy to get these in the mail from her. The angel earrings are handmade by her using silver fish hooks and swarovski crystals. They are so dainty and pretty! I wore them immediately. Thanks, Monica!

The second package is from my best buddy Fiona. She sent me Interweave's Crochet magazine which I have been craving to have ever since I saw it online. She also sent some wonderful Caron SS for me to make a shrug. I love the shade of pink! It's my favorite shade! The yarn is so soft! She also sent some sheepie buttons which she handmade for me. And last but not the least a hairpin lace tool which I wanted to learn how to use. Thank you so much my friend!

thread lip balm cozy pattern

I have requests asking for the pattern of my lip balm cozies. This pattern is for the simpler one with the option of adding size 12 seed beads and the tassel.

Materials:
size 8 Monaco cotton thread in sold or variegated color
size 7 steel hook
thread stitch markers
key ring
size 12 seed beads to match thread(optional)
1 bead with hole big enough for accent (optional)

Round 1 - Chain 2. 6 sc in second chain from hook. Join with sl st
Round 2 - Chain 1. 2 sc in 1st sc in next succeeding st. Join with sl st. (12 scs)
Round 3 - 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in next. Do this alternately until last sc of previous round. Join with sl st. (18 scs)

The next rounds are not joined after each round end. Mark each beginning round with st markers. You can add seed beads in all sc rounds if you like.
Round 4 - 19 - Ch 1. 1 sc in all previous scs. (18 scs)
Round 20 - Ch 1. sc 17X. sl st in last sc. Do not cut thread. Ch 2, hdc in next. Turn, ch 2, hdc in next. Do this 6X total. End off. Cut thread leaving a 6" tail. Slip key ring into "strap" just made and fold in half. Sew to secure key ring.

For beaded tassel just sew on accent bead and add 6 loops of about 30 seed beads each.

I used Anchor KAM 15 for beaded lipstick cozy; the other lipstick cozies on the first picture are made with Monaco, with the 2 on the right are the new variegated colors.

I went to my supplier's yesterday to fill out some orders and I saw these new colors. These come in 50-gm balls like all Monaco brand cotton threads. The price per ball is still .95 cents only.

My version using size 10 acrylic thread, size 12 seed beads........tassels are entirely beaded. This is completely washable. I love the colors. I think I'm going to make another one using either gray or black for dressier occasions but this time for a lipstick. :-)

I got my shawl from my C'ville stole swap partner Sara (topperarnold). I requested for a black shawl because it's hard for me to crochet using black. I love its open, lacy look and the drape. The size is also right for me. She used cotton yarn which is just perfect for our tropical clime.

I made this choker a few weeks ago for the accessory swap over at the mania. Since Fiona my swap partner has already seen it, I'll be posting it here. The pattern is from AA's Irish Crochet Jewelry. This is Victorian Choker. I decided to use black and white instead of all white. I covered a button with red satin for the center of the pendant.

Here is a teaser of the second piece of jewelry I made specially for the swap. I remember you told me your favorite flower is the daffodil, Fiona. Here's a teaser......LOL!!!!!! I don't think I'll be making another one like this in a long, long time. I loved making this for you, my friend!

I saw Donna's (Nanas Place) post at simplycrochet looking for testers for this bookmark. Bookmarks are one of my favorite quickie crochet projects. The pink one is fingeringweight while the variegated one is Monaco cotton thread. The only revision I made with it for the thread is to make the loop for the tassel smaller. Otherwise, it was a fast and easy and fun! LOL!

my first wearable

I finished my first wearable today. This one took me more than a week to finish. The pattern is Lily's Summer Top. The pattern called for Sugar and Cream but I don't have enough yarn for the top. I used 2 strands of Monaco variegated aqua and a size 7/0 hook to get the correct gauge. Next time I plan to make one in a solid color.

Bead Soup Scrunchie Pattern

I learned bead crochet making these. Nobody taught me how to add beads to crochet. I just experimented a lot. I used size 10 cotton thread and different kinds of beads like size 8 and 6 seed beads, pearls, acrylic beads, etc. These are so much fun to make and I got hooked on bead crochet because of this. The pattern is easy for a beginner and is very versatile because you can use any kind of beads you like as long as the hole is big enough for the thread to go through. Enjoy!

Bead Soup Scrunchie
skill level: beginner

Materials:
size 10 cotton thread of your choice (you can use solid or variegated)
different bead mix (seed beads, pearls, acrylic or glass beads, etc) in colors to match your thread
steel hook #7
Goody ouchless elastic in any size

String on beads first before starting. For a full scrunchie, you need to string on about 36" long of beads. It would help if you have twisted beading needle for this.
Round 1 - Attach thread to elastic using slip stitch or you can tie a knot. Cover entire elastic with Sc's. Join to first sc.
Round 2 - Chain 7 adding a bead with each chain. sc in next sc. Bead chain 7 in same stitch. Sc in next. Do this until entire scrunchie is covered. Join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

You can use black thread or metallic thread with rocailles or pearls for a dressier scrunchie. :-)

Pastel colored rocks

I'm in the mood for making beaded jewelry today......lol! These beautiful pastel colored glass rocks are quite heavy. I was thinking of using nylon thread but was afraid it might stretch due to its weight. I used Monaco thread because it's the strongest cotton thread available. I don't have to worry it'll break someday even if the bracelet accidentally gets wet.

Rose Quartz for love?

I made this set of bracelet and earrings. I used rose quartz crystal discs and chips. My sister told me that wearing these will attract good vibrations for love. I guess I have to make 3 because 2 of my sisters are in their 30s and 1 is already in her 40s and they all haven't found "Mr. Right". I was lucky God found hubby for me before I turned 40. LOL!!!!!

I made these several weeks ago then forgot all about them. These were from the book Dressmaking Crochet Japanese edition, 1969 publication. The book was given to me by hubby's grandma. It's a little worn in places but I love it! The patterns are mostly in diagrams with a little English instruction. It's a good thing I learned to crochet reading diagrams so I was able to follow and these are the results:

My newest necklace:

This necklace is inspired by both Fiona for using multi-fiber strands and from a necklace that I saw at the recently concluded trade show. The necklace is made out of Moda Dea eyelash from the Sea of Yarn Swap, a couple of acrylic yarns in 2 shades of green and I suede-like yarn that I bought locally at the mall. I added a strand of strung seed beads and glass beads. I also included some glass butterflies. I just winged the little flowers in colors to match the yarns used. I used cotton threads for them......another good project to use leftover yarns and threads. lol!

Simply Hoops Pattern

There are 4 variations for these. This pattern works best if you crochet not too loosely. I used a size 9 steel hook for these earrings because I tend to crochet loosely. You may use whatever size hook that is comfortable for you. You only need a small amount of thread for these projects. This is a nice project to use some leftover threads. :-)
Materials:
small amount of size 8 or 10 100% cotton thread in preferred color
steel hook
seed beads sizes 8 and 11 to match thread
clear nail polish
silver or gold hoop earrings ( you can use whatever size you have available)

Basic Pattern without beads: (Variegated)
Row 1 - Sc around to cover hoop. Leave a little space before starting sc and a little space after. (See picture) Turn
Row 2 - chain 1. 3 sc in next 3 st., 4 hdc in next 4 st. Dc in next succeeding st. until 7 remaing unworked stitches are left. 4 hdc in next 4 st., 3 sc in next 3 st. Fasten off. Weave ends. Dab a bit of clear nail polish on both ends of earrings to prevent work from slipping.

Pattern 2: (Orange)
String on adequate amount of size 8 seed beads before starting.
Row 1 - Follow Row 1 of basic pattern.
Row 2 - Sc with bead in all of previous sc's. Fasten off. Dab a bit of clear nail polish on both ends of earrings to prevent work from slipping.

Pattern 3 (Lavender)
String on adequate amount of size 11 seed beads before starting.
Row 1 - Follow Row 1 of basic pattern.
Row 2 - Hdc with bead in all of previous sc's. Fasten off. Dab a bit of clear nail polish on both ends to prevent work from slipping.

This one makes a "fuller" style of earrings.......you will need more seed beads for these. For my earrings, I strung about a foot long of size 8 seed beads. I used white hoop earrings since I wanted a thicker base for this.

Row 1 - Follow Row 1 of basic pattern.
Row 2 - Chain 3 with seed beads. Sc in next st. Do this until all previous stitches are covered. Fasten off. Weave ends.
I did not put nail polish on these anymore because the metal part of the earrings prevented the crocheted piece from slipping over.

I made these hoop earrings this afternoon. I got the idea from crafster.org......I used silver-plated hoops which I was able to buy wholesale. I made 3 variations for these. Thread are size 8 and 10 using size 9 hook as it looks nice if you crochet it taut. The beads are size 8 and 11.

This is the fan bookmark by cupcake. She said she learned this from an old lady in a nursing home. This works up fast and is pretty. I used Anchor Lifestyles with size 7 hook.

Update on my stuffs to sell: So far, I've made 7 beaded combs and a couple of bead crocheted bracelets. I'll be making earrings next. It'll be my first. ;-) I'll be posting pictures soon.

Yippeeee!!!!!! I finally got my calendar! I've been wanting to have this calendar since last year. I was very lucky Stacey chose to swap with me. We already did a private swap before and this is the second time. I really enjoy private swaps. So far I only had 1 bad swap. It's a good thing I sent a couple of my butterfly pouches only. Anyways, here's what Stacey sent. She also sent some goodies for Joshua......thank you sooooo much, Stacey!!!! You're so sweet!

Lilac (Purple) Fantasy Doily

I was browsing through CPC when I saw this pattern. I knew I had to make it as I fell in love with it. I had a little trouble with the pattern but was able to figure it out. I changed the color of the petals for the Outer Flowers. I used lilac for the first layer instead of lavender and purple instead of lilac for the second layer. I wanted a more intense color........

My son Joshua said it's beautiful and I'm happy! LOL!

Since Bonnie has finally gottern her shawl, it's safe to post the Butterfly Shawl I made for her. I tried 2 patterns with beads and wasn't happy. Finally decided to use a revised version of the Spring has Sprung Shawl and used the Butterfly motif from Designer Fashions. I used Monaco Raylon thread in gray and size 8 hematine-colored glass seed beads. The crocheting and stringing of the beads took about 2 hours for the edging and about 3 hours sewing on the beads for the motif. It was worth it as Bonnie was happy. It was hard to part with this. lol

I had to bribe Joshua with some candy so he will agree to try this and then have his picture taken. I wanted to see what this looks like when worn as this is for my niece. I don't do much wearables except for ponchos and shawls so this is new for me. I only know my niece's chest measurements and had to guess the rest. I made a mesh-type of sarong as I don't know how to make a matching bikini bottom. lol!
Luckily, my SIL liked the set.

I made this for my grandma. Actually she is my dh's grandma. She's given me crocheted cellphone cozies, potholder, glass cozies, etc. and I have never gave her anything that I have crocheted. I made this one specially for her to cheer her up. She's lost a daughter 2 weeks ago (Patrick's aunt) and thought this would cheer her up a bit. She looks so sad when we visited her last Sunday and my heart went out to her. She's lost 2 children already. First one was my MIL and now my aunt. It hurts too much to lose a child and she's been through too much in her life. Anyways, I made this with size 10 cotton thread and size 7 steel hook. The pattern is #99 of 101 Small Doilies. The beaded dangles are all glass that are attached after making the doily.

Beaded Thread Shawl for Bonnie

I rushed to finish this as I still have another shawl to finish which I was commissioned to make. This is done with Monaco Raylon thread with size 8 hematine seed beads. The first pattern I tried for this shawl was using the love knot with beads that are slipped and not crocheted. I was already a third into it when I noticed the stitches were uneven. Next I tried RachelG's sarong using lacy net stitch with shells but the beads turned out wonky when I tried crocheting the beads in one side only. I really have to learn how to bead crochet in one side only. The third try was finally something I was very happy with. Even if the color is not very springy, the pattern was and I'm satisfied with the way it turned out. I bead crocheted around the edges and did the beading on the motif. Total beading time took about 5 hours which does not count the stringing of the beads. Someday I'll make one for myself...... :-)))))) Here's a sneak preview as I want this to be a surprise in case Bonnie checks out my blog. lol! I'll be sending this out tomorrow together with a couple more packages. Hope Bonnie is happy with this.

Beaded Flower Motif pattern

I made this flower motif last year to make a scarf for woolandflax who was my partner for the summer scarf. She wanted it in variegated lavender and I made her a long scarf. I wasn't able to take a picture of it as I didn't have the camera with me and I was in a hurry to send it to her as it was almost the deadline. Kimberly (Woven N Spun) asked the pattern for this and I was hoping she'd post the pattern on her blog but she didn't so here it is. She made her version using variegated threads using 2 strands of size 10 and it turned out very pretty. It can be used as a belt as well.

Beaded Flower Motif

Materials:
small amount of size 10 cotton thread
8 pcs 4mm pearls or size 8 seed beads in matching color
size 2 steel hook

gauge is not important

Row 1 - Chain 5. Join to form a circle.
Row 2 - Ch 3. (Counts as first dc) Dc in next st drawing a bead in last thread over. Dc in next. Do this until the last dc with bead. Join to top of ch 3. (8 dc's and 8 bead dc's)
Row 3 - Sc in same st. Ch 10. Skip 1 st then sc in next st. Do this 8 times. Sl st in first sc. (8 loops)
Row 4 - Sl st in first loop. 2 sc, 3 hdc, 4 dc, 1 trc, 4 dc, 3 hdc, 2 sc in first loop and in remaining loops to form a flower. Join. Cut off and weave in ends.

You can join them by sewing the motifs together in the trc of 2 petals to the next 2 trc petals of the other motif.

easy beaded barrette and another toddler's poncho

I made this little beaded barrette last night. I removed the bar from under the metal barrette then sc'd around. I wanted the barrette to look full so I bead chained 6 in every sc and voila! Very easy and pretty! lol!

I originally designed this to have the beading done on one side only but after beading one side, it looked unfinished so I beaded the other side. What do you think? I made this for Jillian. She has been asking me if I was making her a bag whenever she sees me crocheting. I used wooden rings that I found while I went hunting for purse handles. These are 1" in diameter and each strand has 100 rings. I'm thinking of making a tote out of these rings or maybe a beaded bracelet. The possibilities are endless........if only I had more time! LOL! Oh, Jillian was very happy with it and she had a huge grin when she woke up from her afternoon nap and found it beside her.

I went to our P.O. to mail Deneen's package and as I normally do while there, I checked to see if there was any package for me. I got another one from Kathy and apparently this one was sent first before the cone holder. Kathy sent some size 30 cotton threads and some size 15 beads. I have always wanted to try threads finer than size 10 and I'm so very grateful to Kathy for her generosity. Thank you Kathy for being a great friend. We are blessed as your have been a source of inspiration with your beautiful creations and for your generosity in sharing your patterns. I have learned many new crochet techniques thanks to you. a few surprises

I got mental block beading wise the past few days. I started on a couple of beaded bracelets but didn't like how it's turning out so I had to redo everything again. I surfed hoping to find inspiration and finally saw something which I liked. :-) It's another "freeform" bracelet and I'll be sending this to Deneen together with her orders as the last time she ordered some beaded items from me she gave it away as gifts. I hope you'll like this, Deneen! I made this specially for you. Here's a sneak preview......heheheh!!!

Another surprise was my SIL's dad whom I also call Daddy as he is my godfather. He told my SIL that his wife wanted me to make some outfits for her as they have a formal gathering they need to attend. It's been almost a year that I have designed a gown or a dress and I was happy for the opportunity to design and do the beadwork for her. The timing was right as I was looking for something else to earn extra income as shipping costs has gone up and I have no choice but to adjust them. I'm thankful I still have my sewers with me as they have been loyal all these years even if I am not very active in the fashion field as I prefer to crochet and make beaded jewelries. lol!

Got RAOK'd and my Spring purse

It was a wonderful surprise to get these 2 packages from our post office when I went there this morning to mail some packages. The first one was an RAOK package from 2 anonymous senders. She gave me some clues as to who they are that sent me the thread cone holder that I have been drooling over ever since Marv posted it over at C'ville. It was pretty obvious to guess that one of them was Kathy as she said that one is known as the doily queen and that her DH was the designer. lol! The other clues Kathy gave me were that she is one of the all time swap queens at C'ville, she is addicted to swaps and had participated in every swap there was last year. Another clue is that she rarely comments on the forum but is a good adviser if someone is in a quandary. When asked to describe herself, she called herself a Strawberry blonde and that we were not likely to see her in Denim. Oh, last but not the least she is from Norfolk, Virginia. My guess is the other anonymous fairy queen is Lani aka dhaunae as she is the only Swap Queen I know and she rarely comments. Judging from her picture, one can see that she has red hair.....or that is what my poor eyes tell me. LOL!!!!! Thank you so much, fairy queens! You are both queens in your own right and both are beautiful inside and out. I am very thankful that you are my friends and that you both have thought of me. I shall never forget this and I shall forever treasure your gift.

The other package is from the spring purse swap. My swap partner is Bonnie. She made me a beautiful felted tote. I love the colors and the extra special beaded handles which matched perfectly with the tote. I just love crochet with beads. She also sent a couple of novelty eyelash yarns in aqua, some fruity smelling candles and a very cute purse shaped photo frame. Thank you so much, Bonnie! I told you you have nothing to be nervous about making me a tote as I would love anything you make for me as I know you took time to make me one.

I wonder if my other partner Karla has gotten her purse yet......

Oh, I also want to share about the wonderful bargains I got yesterday when I went to one of my favorite craft store. They had some vintage hanks of yarns that were unmarked but the manager told me they were made in Japan. I winded in up and I had a ball of fingering weight yarn the size of a baby's head. Also bought some DMC crochet threads in royal blue and dark green, some nylon cord in white, a dozen of sportsweight white yarns made by Coats Germany. The most prized find that I quickly added to my basket was some vintage size 50 variegated thread which were wound in wooden spools. They were old as the spools were already quite yellowish in color though the threads were in good condition. All these cost me about $4. I have always wanted to try crocheting with threads smaller than size 20. I'll look for more of these threads when I go back tomorrow as I have to buy more purse handles.

furry tote and Priceless Peridot

Anyway, here are a couple of finished crochet projects. I made this tote while doing another test for Kathy's doily. I usually have at least 3 projects going on as I tend to work from one to the other. lol! And that's not counting my beadwork projects! LOL! Here is a tote I made for my youngest sis. It's made from some fur I got from a private swap with Lynlee.

Ribbon Purse

I made this while taking a break from doing a test for Kathy. This was fast to do. It took me only 2 hours to make. The ribbon yarn is from Lion Brand's Incredible ribbon yarn. I got 2 balls of it. One ball was from Cheryl Oxsalida (diamond) from the sea on yarn swap and the other is from Jessi. I wanted to do something special out of the balls as I could never find them here in Manila. RAOK bangle

I made this for Donna's 8-year-old daughter. I've been thinking of making a bangle after I finished a similar stitch bracelet type for Elise. I put some loose round beads inside the bangle though it's hard to see from the picture. I tried in on and the beads move around when I move. I hope the little girl likes this.

Butterfly Shawl WIP

My SIL commissioned me to make a thread shawl for her best friend. I decided to make the butterfly shawl from Annie's Favorite Designer Fashions book. Here is the butterfly motif:

I tried to follow the basic shawl pattern but couldn't get it right. I decided to use the pattern from Spring has Sprung Shawl but made it a little less "open". I'm still unsure if I should do the flower motifs as the pattern called for 64 flowers. That will be 64 loose ends to weave in! lol!

I finished making these 2 sets for Elise. She wanted one in sapphire blue for her daughter and ruby red for herself. I decided to make something different for her as she is going to show these to her boss who owns a gift shop. She's interested in seeing some of my beaded jewelry after she told her boss about them. Here they are:

Both sets are made with size 12 Japanese AB glass seed beads, 6mm and 3 mm round glass beads with a bead for closure.

Here are some of my beaded ornaments which I have been making for the past few years (ever since I got married).....I try to make at least 3 new ones every Christmas. I used to hang these suspended from the ceiling when we still haven't bought a Christmas tree yet. These are all heavy!

Finally finished the purse for the spring swap over at C'ville. It was easy to do and took me a week to finish on and off. I had a lot of sewing and weaving of ends to do but it was worth it. I made the lining out of bridal satin in ivory white. I used 2 strands of size 10 held together. Pattern is from here.

Freeform bracelets

I made these 2 freeform bracelets out of the dyed cocoshell beads I bought. I added some Rose quartz crystals and clear glass beads in different shapes and sizes. These are fun and quick to do and will make beautiful gifts. Each one is unique as no 2 are really alike. I'll be giving these away to a couple of friends.

I finsihed making some flowers for the spring purse swap. I used double strand of size 10 cotton thread as the pattern called for size 3 thread. I love how it turned out. I'm 50% done with the bag then have to make the lining and decide on the strap and whether to put a closure for it or not.

Oh, I also went bead shopping yesterday as I got to buy some ruby red and sapphire blue beads which Elise wanted. I have to make a couple of sets of necklace/bracelet out of them. I got some ideas but still have to go and buy some seed beads/bugle beads to go with these. I also saw these and couldn't resist......I'm sending the teapot shaped beads as RAOK for a couple of friends at C'ville who loves them.

I finally got my fall purse from bubblefizz(Angie) Tuesday. I went to our post office to mail some packages then went to check if I got any package. My friend from the receiving section handed me this small package. When I opened it, it revealed this beautifully bright purse in my favorite shade of pink. It is worked with flower motifs alternating variegated and solid colored yarns. I'm so happy with my tote! I also got lots of goodies which Angie was so generous to include. I'm so sorry I got you worried, Angie.....also Juli. The package was just in time as a Chinese New Year gift. lol! DH claimed the music cd and took it to his office next day.....lol! I'll be making a poncho out of the powder pink yarn for my adopted 2-year-old daughter. She was already petting the 2 skeins of yarns. lol! The fairy figurine I have already kept in my display case so the kids won't play with it. I also got 3 balls of beautiful thread with metallic filament in it......so sparkly and surprisingly soft. I've also finished testing Kathy's tissue tote. I decided to use Monaco's variegated thread for the main color and pale pink for the contrasting color. For the button, I used a pink button I got from the button swap from rebeccav. Just perfect! It looks kinda victorian which I like very much.......Hubby is already asking me to make several as gifts for Christmas. lol!

I've just finished crocheting this while waiting for my son this morning. Here it is.......Posh Pineapple from LA's Pineapple Doileys. The book is a gift from Julie. I've been wanting to make this but was a bit intimidated by it as it has quite a few new stitches for me. I'm so happy I took the challenge and it turned out beautiful! I'll be giving this away to a good friend whom I owe so much. It's her favorite color. The one in the book was in baby pink but I used a more bright color since it's called "posh" pineapple doiley. LOL! Here it is blocking on my ironing board.

More Magic Combs

I got more magic combs to sell. The brown one is made with size 12 seed beads in beige with dark brown bugle beads. I call this brown butterflies as they are shaped like butterflies.

This one is made with cylinder-shaped aqua tiger's eye beads and periwinkle blue size 12 seed beads. These look like daisies.

This one is made with silver seed beads and black bicone beads. This one is very elegant.

Last one is made with baby pink silver-lined size 12 seed beads with fuschia colored round beads and light pink oval beads.

Beaded Bracelet

I was working on a set of beaded necklace and bracelet which was ordered from me. My eyes would often wander on this bag of assorted colored seed beads which has been on my table for months now and which I have been too lazy to sort out. I decided to crochet a bracelet out of these seed beads to get rid of some of them. Luckily, the colors blend together and all are bright and cheery just the way I like my colors. lol! The pattern is a gift from Donna of Crochetville and it's from Coats and Clark. I used size 10 thread instead of size 20. I also did it in 3-bead loops instead of 6 as my beads were bigger.

I've also finished the set that I've made and this is Patty's. The colors are more purpley and sparkley than the picture shows. I'll be sending these out as soon as I get the confirmation from paypal.

I'm thinking of doing a doily next.......I love Kathy's doilies! She's been an inspiration to all of us threadies. :-))))))))))

Boucle Wrap/Stole

I got some leftover Rainbow Boucle from Fiona and decided to make a stole out of it. I got the pattern from freepatterns.com and it's called Pretty in Pink Stole. I really love working with boucle. For US$8.00, I've made a shawl, a long scarf and a stole out of it. Here it is:

It's been weeks since I last posted. First of all I would like to greet everybody a Happy New Year specially to my wonderful friends over at Crochetville who have been very generous and supportive for my love for crochet and beads and for ordering threads and stuffs from me. Thank you so much!

I got a second (!) notice from the post office about a package waiting for me. I never even got the first notice so I was fairly surprised to see the second one. Anyways, I was only able to claim my package yesterday and it's from my ornament swap partner Robert aka Lowrancer. He sent a beautiful thread covered glass ornament and the thread santa suit which I fell in love with when I first saw it posted in Show and Tell. I was secretly hoping he'd send that one to me as I saw he made different thread ornaments for his 5 partners. I am very lucky! My tree will be beautiful this year! I'm planning to make several ornaments all made from thread for my tree. I got to make at least 5 every month. lol! My best friend is already ordering crocheted snowflakes from me. :-))))))

I'm currently making some thread kerchiefs which my sisters wanted as they are planning to sell them. Their friends are already asking them where they got the kerchiefs I made for them before. I already made 2 and still got several more to make. I'll post pictures soon. ;-)

busy, busy, busy!!!!

I have been too busy to update my blog. So far I have finished 6 Magic combs, 11 soap cover with rose, 3 hobo bags, several beaded bracelets......not counting the gifts I sent to the Christmas wish list over at C'ville. I still got 6 kerchiefs to make, a couple of magic combs and 15 more of the soap cover with rose which are gifts and I have less than a week to finish everything! Oh, I still have to make gifts for my sisters and SIL. I'll be very happy when this is all over so I can make something nice for myself. LOL! Anyways, here are a couple of pictures. The kerchief is a gift for my goddaughter which I made to match a dress I bought for her. She loves headbands so I'm pretty sure she'll like this as well. The 3 hobo bags are all orders. All are made with Monaco size 10 cotton thread and some fun fur which I got from a private swap.

I made this amulet bag necklace for a friend. It's a surprise so I won't be saying who it is for as I've already sent it Tuesday. I hope she likes it as I know she likes bright and happy colors. I used Monaco royal blue thread with red size 8 seed beads in different shades. For the necklace part, I used glass beads and cloisonne butterfly to match. It's prettier in person. I had second thoughts about giving this away but it's for a friend. lol!

I tested Kathy's soap with rose and it was fun and so very pretty! I'm planning to make several to give as gifts for my sisters also for C'ville's Christmas wish list. Just have to find some oval-shaped soap small enough for this as my sample is a bit big for the cover. lol!

I made these for Christmas gifts. The blue one is for a teenager who loved it when she saw me wearing one and the other one is for a special lady who is a dear friend to me. What I love about making these amulets is that no 2 are exactly alike. Each one comes out differently. I love making these and planning to make more as gifts.

The gray one is crocheted with Raylon gray with hematine size 8 seed beads. The purple one on the other hand is crocheted with Monaco thread with size 8 clear rainbow seed beads. Both necklace parts have glass beads accents. :-))))

I sent this out yesterday to Juli for the fall purse swap. I used 2 strands of Monaco rust and cream. I lined the handles with organza ribbon and also the bag with silk. I hope she likes it as I only winged it.

I made this as a Christmas gift for a friend. She loves purple. This is done using Anchor lavender size 10 thread with size 11 seed beads in shades from purple to lavender. I got 3 more to make. A couple are orders and another one is a gift for a special teenager. :-)

Plum magic comb

I made this as a belated gift for my SIL who wanted one when she saw me wearing one. This one is the best as it is the prettiest one I've made so far. I used some plum-colored tiger's eye beads which I found at the mall, opal and amethyst gemchips, some faceted clear glass beads in 2 sizes and last but not the least some pearls used as spacer beads. What do you think of this one? ;-)

My SIL's friend wanted me to make a sample of these. I think these will be popular soon as an actress was wearing one of these in one of her scenes. The brown one is a sample and the pink one is my version. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to make one as the stringing and weaving of the beads took most of my time. lol!

These are great for parties when you are too lazy to fix your hair as the beads sparkle. :-)))))
